Identity Checking

As part of the Disclosure process, we will need to check your identity. To do this, we need to physically see three original ID documents. We enter information from these documents into the Disclosure form.

Route 1: (preferred)

One document from ID Group 1.

plus

Two further documents from any of the ID Groups.

This is the fastest route. You must use this route if you posses any document from ID Group 1.

Route 2: (alternative)

One document from ID Group 2a.

plus

Two further documents from ID Groups 2a or 2b.

This is a slower route. It also requires external ID verification using a third party (Experian). They will retain a record of this search, but it will not be visible to other parties or affect your credit record.

Notes:

You must provide original documents only (photocopies cannot be accepted).
At least one of the ID documents must show your current address.
Where it's included in documents, the information must match your identity, date of birth and address information held in our Compass membership database (as provided on your Adult Information Form).
If you do not have the identity documents for Routes 1 or 2, then we cannot process your disclosure online. We would need to seek advice on how to continue from Scouts HQ, but this doesn't mean it isn't possible.

Identity Documents

ID Group 1:

Passport (any nationality).
Biometric residence permit (UK).

Driving licence:
- Photocard (UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or EEA).
Adoption certificate (UK and Channel Islands).
Birth certificate:
- Issued within 12 months of birth (UK or Channel Islands).

ID Group 2a:

Driving licence:
- Photocard (issued outside the UK and EEA).
- Paper version issued without a photocard (if issued before 1998 in the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or EEA).
Firearms licence (UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man).
HM Forces ID card (UK).
Birth certificate:
- Issued after 12 months of birth (UK or Channel Islands).
Marriage/civil partnership certificate (UK or Channel Islands).
Immigration document, visa or work permit.
- Issued by a country outside the EEA.

ID Group 2b:

Correspondnace/ID cards:
- Card carrying the PASS accreditation logo (UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands).

EEA National ID card.
Letter from Head Teacher
Irish passport card:
- Cannot be used in with an Irish Passport in Group 1.

If issued within the last 12 months:

Council Tax statement (UK or Channel Islands).
Financial statement eg pension, endowment, ISA (UK).
Mortgage statement (UK or EEA).
P45 certificate statement (UK or Channel Islands).
P60 certificate statement (UK or Channel Islands).

If issued within the last 3 months:

Bank or building society account opening confirmation letter (UK).
Bank or building society statement (UK, Channel Islands or EEA).
Bank or building society statement (countries outside of the EEA, branch must be in the country where the applicant lives and works)
